fussnote | The hysteretic properties of a d = 3 Random Field Ising Model (RFIM) system, Fe"0"."6Zn"0"."4F"2, were studied, using neutron scattering. If zero-field-cooled to any T below T"N, the antiferromagnetic (AF) state remains stable up to the sharp phase transition at T"c(H), for all T and H. If field-cooled (FC) through T"c(H) the Bragg peak width narrows as T or H decreases but remains constant if T or H is then increased. Hence the AF state is stable and the FC one is not, indicating the lower critical dimensionality d"l 〈 3, in accord with all recent theories, which predict d"l = 2. |
