fussnote | Modulation is one of the most important electrical parameters for floppy disks. It is not only a measurement of the uneveness of the output signal amplitude but also a measurement of the reliability of the end products. In this paper the influence of the principal factors on the modulation is discussed. They are the surface smoothness, defects of the media and the quality of the assembly, as well as the orientation mode of magnetic particles in the media layer. The modulation is not an independent parameter. It is closely related to the other electrical ones of floppy disks. Among different expressions of modulation, negative modulation is the most sensitive for above factors. |
