fussnote The formation of TiO"2 powders by vapor phase reaction from TiCl"4O"2 system was studied to elucidate the mechanism of rutile formation. The rutile formation became appreciable at the effective reaction temperatures, 900-1300^oC, and increased with rising temperature. The ratio of rutile nucleation increased at both low and high oxygen concentrations, but was affected little by TiCl"4 concentration. The formation process of TiO"2 particles was discussed in which the rutile nucleation was considered to take place by the phase transition of anatase clusters into rutile ones.
