Zusammenfassung 1. Verabreichung von α-Methyldopa führt bei Parkinson- und Chorea-Patienten zu gleichen Veränderungen der Amino- und Ketosäurezusammensetzung von Liquor cerebrospinalis und Serum. Eine biochemische Differenzierung beider Syndrome auf Grund der durch diese Substanz erzielbaren Stoffwechselveränderungen erscheint nicht möglich. 2. Ein Vergleich der Wirkung von L-Valin und α-Methyldopa zeigt, daß beide Stoffe die Aminosäurezusammensetzung des Serums in vergleichbarer Weise verändern, das Aminosäurespektrum des Liquor cerebrospinalis jedoch von beiden Aminosäuren auf verschiedene Weise beeinflußt wird.

Summary 1. Changes in the pattern of cerebrospinal fluid and serum with regard to amino acids and keto acids brought about by the administration of α-methyldopa were indentical in patients with either Parkinson's disease or chorea. A biochemical differentiation of the two syndromes on the basis of changes produced by this compound does not appear to be possible. 2. In comparing the effect of L-valine and α-methyldopa it was found that both agents alter the amino acid pattern of serum in a comparable way while affecting that of cerebrospinal fluid in different ways.
