Zusammenfassung Die Existenz des Bariumdiborides BaB2 wurde auf Grund analytischer und röntgenographischer Beweise sichergestellt. BaB2 bildet sich neben BaB6 bei der Reaktion von Barium mit Bor. Es kristallisiert hexagonal (a 0=3,02 Å,c 0-3,21 Å) und ist leicht hydrolysierbar.

Abstract The existence of barium diboride BaB2 has been confirmed by means of analytic and X-ray data. BaB2 is formed together with BaB6 by the reaction of elementary barium with boron. BaB2 has a hexagonal structure witha 0=3.02 andc 0=3,21 Å, it is easyly hydrolyzable.
