Abstract The interaction of atomic hydrogen with a cluster-model graphite surface (C24H12) has been examined in detail using the MINDO/3 method. Results on chemisorption, surface diffusion, coverage formation and H2 surface recombination are discussed, and they found to be in good agreement with experiment.
