Abstract The strength properties of aromatic polyamides become worse as a result of the plasticizing effect of molecules of water aggregated in the interfibrillar space and an adsorption decrease in the strength when drops of liquid water fall on the surface of the filaments. It is expedient to make the surface of the fibres hydrophobic for longterm preservation of the strength properties of textile materials.
