Summary Electrical impedance and outside tip diameter of glass microelectrodes were measured. With outside tip diameters smaller than 0.7μ there was a significant deviation between calculated and measured values. The relationship between outside tip diameter and wall thickness was investigated electronmicroscopically on micropipettes filled with phosphotungstic acid.
