Notes: Summary Studies were conducted on the secretion of retinol-binding protein (RBP) in blood of goats given different treatments of preformed vitamin A, Β-carotene and plant carotenoids. Administration of these sources either in a single massive dose or massive dose split into four equal doses, markedly increased the secretion of RBP in blood. The secretion of RBP in blood occurred at least in two phases, one at early periods and the other at later periods.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1572-9486Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: PhysicsNotes: Abstract The expressions for current-voltage characteristics of single injection current flow in solid state cylindrical diode containing significant amount of deep traps have been derived with the help of regional approximation method. It is shown that the complete current-voltage characteristic may be divided into well separated current-voltage regimes and the last regime is the pure space-charge-limited trap free regime. The role of deep traps is specially explained in the complete span of current-voltage characteristic.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1572-9486Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: PhysicsNotes: Abstract Analytical expressions for the current-voltage characteristics have been given for the insulator containing significant amount of traps lying below the Fermi level. The mobility of the current carriers is varying with concentration in the insulator. It is shown that the complete current-voltage characteristic can be divided into four regimes which are having power laws for the characteristic from linear law in pure Ohm's law regime to cube law in space-charge-limited trap-free regime. There is a very large change in current occurring over a restricted change in voltage.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1572-9486Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: PhysicsNotes: Abstract The complete picture of the single injection current flow in insulators with two sets of traps distributed in energy is given for the situation in which the concentration of the lower trap distribution is larger than or equal to that of the upper distribution. A new approach for the solution of the problem is given with the help of regional approximation method. The results are compared with the previously reported experimental work to confirm the correctness of the analysis.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 0392-6737Keywords: Mösbauer effect ; other γ-ray spectroscopy ; Fe and its alloys ; Conference proceedingsSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: PhysicsNotes: Summary We report on low-temperature (4.2 K)57Fe Mössbauer studies of the ternary alloy system Fe(Sb1−x Te x )2 for 0.5≤x≤1.0. The Mössbauer spectra are electric-quadrupole doublets for all the specimens, indicating a non-magnetic character. The quadrupole splitting decreases with the increase in tellurium concentration. FeTe2 has also been studied in external magnetic fields up to 6T. These experiments show that the electric-field gradient in this alloy is negative and has an asymmetry parameter of η ≈0.7.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

There seems to be some ignorance about the availability of antibiotics in the context of cerebral malaria. Antimalarial drugs are different from antibiotics, which are seldom effective ...Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1432-0967Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: GeosciencesNotes: Abstract The fission track closing temperatures of the minerals which are found to be suitable for fission track geochronology have been calculated for various cooling rates using the stepwise cooling. Biotite is found to have the lowest closing temperature whereas the sphene is having the highest. The closing temperature falls with decrease in cooling rate.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
