Electron emission from the surface, which breaks a thermal insulation of the sheath, is studied in both thermoelectron emission (TEE) and secondary electron emission (SEE), in which a correct expression under space charge limited condition is given for arbitrary sheath voltages. Nonlinear thermal bifurcation induced by electron emission is analyzed in the experiment and the theory. The local heat flow was found to be enhanced by a thermal contraction induced by cross-field potential variation in a plasma. An enhancement of SEE of hydrogen-absorbed graphite, and a suppression of SEE by the gyromotion of emitted electrons in obliquely incident magnetic field are identified. The effects of ion reflection on the surface and ponderomotive force are also discussed in terms of energy transmission factor δ. As compared with conventional-type ELA, this new ELA has obliquely placed ion- and secondary-electron-repeller grids and a collector plate with respect to external tandem-mirror magnetic fields. One of the most useful capabilities of this new ELA for precise ion measurements is to greatly reduce the current of high-energy electrons onto the collector plate. Also, this compact-sized ELA is scannable in the plasma to obtain radial profiles of Tip and ΦP without providing any perturbations of the tandem-mirror magnetic fields because it neither adds its own magnetic field nor needs to shield against the ambient magnetic field. Ion trajectories in the new ELA are numerically calculated so as to make a further understanding of its physics principles and to optimize its design. The energy-calibration experiments for the new ELA are carried out using ion beams; a fairly good agreement in the analyzed beam energies from the new ELA data and from conventional-type ELA data is attained. Furthermore, the first application of the new ELA to plasma diagnostics is made; a substantial reduction in energetic-electron influxes onto real ion signals makes a significant improvement in the analyses of Tip and ΦP.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Chromosome analysis of the cells revealed a homogeneously staining region (HSR) on a marker chromosome. In a series of 63 patients with newly diagnosed acute leukemia who were admitted to the Main Hospital of Nippon Medical School, five patients fit the criteria for AML-M0: negative myeloperoxidase (MPO) and Sudan black B reaction by light microscopy, negative for B- and T-lineage markers, and positive for myeloid markers. They were treated by means of AdVP [adriamycin, vincristine, and prednisolone (PSL)] therapy and/or BHAC-DMP [behenoylcytosine arabinoside (BHAC), daunorubicin (DNR), 6-mercaptopurine (6-MP), and PSL] therapy. The AdVP therapy was unsuccessful in the two patients who received it, while a complete remission (CR) was achieved with the BHAC-DMP therapy in three of four patients. Although one patient treated with BHAC-DMP did not achieve CR, his blasts were apparently sensitive to the therapy. In assessable cases in the literature where leukemic blasts were MPO-negative, myeloid marker-positive and B- and T-lineage marker-negative, CR was achieved in 54.5% and 44.4% with anti-acute myeloid leukemia therapy and anti-acute lymphocytic leukemia therapy, respectively. Five cases in the literature were treated with a chemotherapeutic regimen containing BHAC [or cytosine arabinoside (Ara-C)], DNR, and 6-MP, and all achieved CR.
