Published 1993Staff ViewISSN: 1440-0960Source: Blackwell Publishing Journal Backfiles 1879-2005Topics: MedicineNotes: Pyoderma Gangrenosum (PG) is often associated with an underlying disease. PG as a paraneoplastic disease is illustrated by the presentation of four patients with malignancy of myeloproliferative origin and PG. An associated malignancy isfound in approximately 7% of patients with PG, most commonly haematologic in nature and in particular leukaemia. Clinically the PG is often of the superficial bullous variant and is associated with a poor prognosis.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

It is associated with diabetes mellitus in two thirds of cases. The aetiology and pathogenesis of NL are unknown but familial cases of NL seem to be extremely rare. We report the occurrence of NL in two sisters with normal glucose tolerance.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Their action is macrophage-dependent and the dosage is critical. In 1984 a multicentre, prospective, randomised, double-blind trial of coumarin, given as a daily 50-mg dose for 2 years after surgery in patients with high-risk melanoma, was started. The patients had lesions greater than 1.70 mm thick and TNM stage IB or stage II disease. To date there are 4 recurrences in the coumarin-treated group of 13 patients, and 10 recurrences in the placebo-treated group of 14 patients (P〈0.01). There were no toxic effects.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
