Published 1996Staff ViewISSN: 1525-1438Source: Blackwell Publishing Journal Backfiles 1879-2005Topics: MedicineNotes: Thirty-seven patients with advanced or recurrent cervical squamous cell carcinoma were treated with ifosfamide 1.5 g m−2 on days 1–5 (with mesna as a uroprotector), and bleomycin 30 mg on day 1, every 3 weeks. A partial response rate of 21% (95%CI: 6–36%) was obtained in patients who had not received prior chemotherapy, with a median duration of response of 5 months. No complete responses were seen. The median survival of all patients was 6 months. Nausea and vomiting, white cell suppression and encephalopathy were the main toxic effects. The results suggest that the addition of bleomycin to ifosfamide is not advantageous and increases toxicity, and that the interaction between these two agents is not contributory to the activity of the bleomycin, ifosfamide and cisplatin combination regimen (BIP). The potentially more severe toxicity of combination regimens must be considered when treating this group of patients.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Oxygen concentration increased and carbon dioxide concentration decreased with increasing oxygen flow. Tidal volume also increased with oxygen flow. The delivered oxygen concentrations were lower than previously reported at all four rates; however, mask function improved with increasing flow up to 20 l.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1600-0560Source: Blackwell Publishing Journal Backfiles 1879-2005Topics: MedicineNotes: Lymphoid nodules were found associated with 44 of 1,506 dermatofibroma/histiocytoma tumors of the skin. The lymphoid nodules were usually in the adjacent fat. Germinal center formation occurred, and perinodular and perivascular plasmacylosis was frequently associated.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Published 2001Staff ViewISSN: 1095-8649Source: Blackwell Publishing Journal Backfiles 1879-2005Topics: BiologyNotes: Data from permanent parasites (juvenile trypanorhynchs and anisakids) indicated that Spanish mackerel Scomberomorus commerson from four sites on the west coast of Australia, Abrolhos. Shark Bay, Exmouth and Onslow, intermingled and were probably all drawn from the same stock. Fish from Broome, Kupang (Indonesia), Groote Eylandt-Torres Strait and the east coast of Australia had distinct faunas of permanent parasites and probably each belonged to a different stock. There was evidence of movement of fish between Broome and the west coast. Abundances of temporary parasites (gill copepods and monogeneans) suggested that males and females on the west coast migrated separately because in several cases the parasite fauna of one sex was more similar to that offish in an adjacent area than to the opposite sex in the same area.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -
