4Monte Carlo model for the deposition of electronic energy in solid argon thin films by keV electronsVidal, R. ; Baragiola, R. A. ; Ferrón, J.

Published 1996Staff ViewISSN: 1089-7550Source: AIP Digital ArchiveTopics: PhysicsNotes: The motion of keV electrons in a film of solid argon and the depth distribution of ionizations and excitations are studied using a Monte Carlo simulation. This method does not only allow for accurate inclusion of individual cross sections but also for easy inclusion of finite size effects. We have analyzed the effect of the substrate on electron trajectories and found an important enhancement of the number of electron–hole pairs and excitons produced near the interface by electrons reflected from heavy substrates. © 1996 American Institute of Physics.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Published 1987Staff ViewISSN: 1089-7550Source: AIP Digital ArchiveTopics: PhysicsNotes: We have studied the first stages of low-pressure oxidation of amorphous silicon using Auger electron spectroscopy. The application of the principal component analysis to the Si L2,3 core-valence-valence transition spectra, acquired during the oxidation, allows us for the interpretation of the oxidation kinetics of the a-Si. Using the target transformation method we have isolated the Auger spectra of the components present during the oxidation process. We observe an intermediate state in the Si-SiO2 interface formed during the oxidation. This state was attributed to a SiOx-type compound.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1420-908XSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: MedicineNotes: Abstract The effects of intravenous injection of PAF-acether and of leukotrienes LTB4 and LTD4 on rabbit retina were determinedin vivo in the unanaesthetized animal. PAF-acether induced an intense ischemia accompanied by a marked plasma leakage. The extravasation remained both in the platelet-depleted rabbit where a sludge phenomenon appeared and in the reserpine-treated animal. Prostacyclin injected after PAF-acether restored only partially the normal retinal appearance. The effect of LTC4 and LTD4 was markedly less intense than PAF-acether which is not too surprising in this species, given the previous results.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -
