ISSN: 1573-8221Keywords: microdialysis ; D 3 dopamine receptors ; 7-OH-DPATSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: BiologyMedicineNotes: Abstract By means of intracerebral microdialysis it is shown that a selective agonist of the dopamine D3 receptors, 7-hydroxy-N,N-di-n-propyl-2-aminotetralin, causes a dose-dependent decrease of dopamine release but not its synthesis, which confirms the preeminent involvement of D3 dopamine autoreceptors in presynaptic regulation of the release of this transmitter in the basal ganglia of rat brain.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1573-8221Keywords: neuroleptics ; dopamine ; release ; striatum ; catalepsySource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: BiologyMedicineNotes: Abstract The effects of substances which raise the extracellular level of dopamine in the striatum (amphetamine, pargyline, nomifenzine, sulpiride, piracetam, and L-DOPA) on the intensity of haloperidol-induced catalepsy were studied in rats. It was shown that elevation of the extracellular content of dopamine in the striatum hindered the development of haloperidol catalepsy in rats.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Published 1995Staff ViewISSN: 1573-8221Keywords: psychostimulators ; bromantane ; dopamine ; striatum ; microdialysisSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: BiologyMedicineNotes: Abstract It is demonstrated that bromantane induces a pronounced and prolonged (8 h) increase in the release of dopanime. Tetrodotoxin (10−6 M) perfused via a microdialysis probe partially inhibits the bromantane-induced release of dopamine. The extracellular content of the dopamine metabolites 3,4-dioxyphenylacetic and homovanillic acids is slightly decreased. The possible mechanisms of action of bromantane on the dopamin- and serotoninergic systems of the brain are discussed.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
