ISSN: 1432-2242Keywords: (NADP+) glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase ; Zymogram ; Allelic shift ; Inheri-tance ; Developmental expressionSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: BiologyNotes: Summary Chloroplastic (NADP+) glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (E.C. 1.2.1.9) catalyzes the second reaction in photosynthesis after the fixation of carbon by RuBisCO. Chloroplast-bound (NADP+) G3PDH was resolved in soybean by starch gel electrophoresis using l-histidine-citrate buffer (pH 5.7). Histochemical staining revealed zymogram patterns indicative of a tetramer. A survey of soybean genotypes revealed differences in zymogram patterns between the principal cytoplasmic sources of the northern and southern US germplasms. In the soybean pedigree, an allelic frequency shift toward a five-banded pattern was observed. G3PDH polymorphism was due to allele associated with gene expression at the slow locus. No linkage was found between the slow locus of (NADP+) G3PDH and AC02, AC03, AC04, ACP, DIA1, IDH1, IDH2, PGM1, and PGM3. Developmental expression in the above-ground tissues was identical, whereas roots as a rule did not express (NADP+) G3PDH activity. The importance of chloroplast-bound (NADP+) G3PDH in photo-synthesis and its interesting mode of inheritance warrants further exploration of this enzyme in soybean.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1573-8248Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: Agriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Fishery, Domestic Science, NutritionDescription / Table of Contents: Summary A method for measuring the toxicity of pesticides used in glasshouses toDiaeretiella rapae M'Intosh with long range laboratory tests is described. It includes the study of the pesticide action on parasite instars inside the aphid and the demonstration of the initial toxicity as well as the persistence of action of the residues against adults. Nine pesticides were tested among which insecticides, specific aphicides and miticides and also fungicides. Benomyl, Mancozeb, Dicofol and Tetradifon show only a very low toxicity. Pirimicarbe, Isolane and Phosalone with a short persistence of action have a medium toxicity. In the contrary Vamidothion and Fundal forte with a long persistence of action show very high toxicicity. Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1573-8248Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: Agriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Fishery, Domestic Science, NutritionDescription / Table of Contents: Summary A method for measuring the toxicity of varicus fungicides on the development ofEntomophthora aphidis Hoff attackingAphis fabae Scop. is described. It concerns laboratory studies of the preventive, curative and antisporulating activity of 19 fungicides. None of the tested products presents a curative action. In the case of a preventive treatment the most active fungicides range in the following order: maneb, sulphur, mancozeb, dinocap, ditalimfos and ziram. The results with antisporulation treatments bear out those of preventive treatments. The systemic fungicides tested reveal a negligible activity. Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
