Normal endometria and simple hyperplasias were completely negative for p53. The PAb1801 indices of complex hyperplasias and complex atypical hyperplasias were 2.5±1.8% and 5.0±3.2%, respectively. The PAb1801 indices of grade 1, grade 2 and grade 3 endometrial carcinomas were 10.2±14.2%, 44.4±29/0% and 45.0±32.5%, respectively. These results indicate a progressively enhanced p53 expression in the sequence from normal endometrium, through hyperplasia to carcinoma. A significant correlation between p53 expression and labeling indices of Ki-67 and DNA polymerase α was observed in endometrial carcinomas. The endo-metrial carcinomas with p53 overexpression developed mainly in post-menopausal patients and were frequently high-grade tumors with deep myometrial invasion. These findings may indicate that overexpression of p53 protein contributes to the proliferative activity of the tumor cells.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1089-7550Source: AIP Digital ArchiveTopics: PhysicsNotes: Carbon adsorption to the Si(100) surface in the atmosphere with large or with small concentrations of organic carbons is examined by using thermal desorption spectroscopy or x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The number of carbon atoms on a Si(100) wafer stored in the pure water, in which the total organic carbon is 285 ppb, becomes larger until a certain time with increasing time stored in pure water, and it keeps constant over that time. On the other hand, that stored in the air in the clean bench, where the concentration of the organic carbon is thought to be low, becomes small, and the increasing rate of the carbon atoms adsorbed on the Si(100) surface is very small. The difference between these results is due to whether the dominant step is the transportation of organic carbons in the atmosphere or it is the adsorption of organic carbons on the Si surface. The former process occurs for the small concentration of the organic carbons in the atmosphere, and the latter process occurs for the large concentration of them. Adsorption of the organic carbons dominates in the entire process in pure water under the present condition, and the transportation of them dominates in the entire process in the air of the clean bench under the present condition. From the relationship between C1s integral intensity and thickness of the native oxide, it is found that the adsorption of the carbon atoms has a close relationship with the growth of the native oxide on the Si surface. The adsorption site of the carbon atoms is also discussed from the viewpoint of stepped growth of the native oxide. © 1996 American Institute of Physics.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

HSGs grow upward from the amorphous silicon surface, and twin formations are generated in almost all the HSGs. For approximately 50% of whole HSGs, polycrystalline silicon grows downward from the bottom of the HSG. A common heterogeneous material both for the nucleus formation of HSG and for that of polycrystalline silicon growing downward is thought to be formed at the interface between HSG and polycrystalline silicon.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Published 1997Staff ViewISSN: 1398-9995Source: Blackwell Publishing Journal Backfiles 1879-2005Topics: MedicineNotes: We studied the effect of tea polyphenols on histamine release from rat basophilic leukemia (RBL-2H3) cells. Among tea polyphenols, (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) most strongly and dose-dependently inhibited histamine release from cells stimulated with a calcium ionophore, A23187. (-)-Epigallocatechin (EGC) and (-)-epicatechin gallate (ECG) with a triphenol residue moderately inhibited histamine release, whereas diphenolic (+)-catechin (C) and (-)-epicatechin (EC) did not. The magnitude of the inhibitory effect was in the order EGCG 〉 ECG 〉 EGC. Among simple polyphenols, the triphenol compounds, pyrogallol (PG) and gallic acid (GA) exerted inhibitory activity, but the diphenols, pyrocatechol, hydroquinone, and resorcinol did not. In addition, the mixture of PG and GA inhibited histamine release as strongly as EGCG with two triphenol residues. Similarly, they inhibited histamine release induced by IgE-antigen complex stimulation more efficiently than that induced by A23187 stimulation. EGCG did not inhibit the increase of intracellular Ca2+ in RBL-2H3 cells stimulated with A23187 or IgE antigen. These results indicate that the triphenol structure plays an important role in the inhibitory activity of tea polyphenols. Their activity seemed to be exerted through the metabolic events occurring after the elevation of intracellular Ca2+ concentration.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Subcutaneous injection of isofloxythepin or haloperidol inhibited exploratory behaviour, methamphetamine (3 mg/kg)-induced hyperactivity and bromocriptine (15 mg/kg)-induced yawning, and also elicited catalepsy.2. Isofloxythepin and haloperidol increased concentrations of dihydroxyphenyl-acetic acid in the striatum and elevated serum prolactin levels.3. The results suggest that isofloxythepin, as well as haloperidol, blocks the action of the dopamine D2-receptors in the striatum, nucleus accumbens and pituitary.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

We isolated Pax-6 cDNA clones from an rSey homozygote library, and found an internal deletion of about 600 basepairs in the serine/threonine-rich domain. ...Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -
