The nature of crack formation in steels is different: intragranular in steel St. 6 and grain-boundary in steel U12, the distribution of cracks in the spall region in steel St. 6 is quasiisometric, in steel U12 crack formation is oriented, in view of which it is difficult to determine adequately the characteristics of crack formation. 2. Under dynamic conditions new mechanisms of fracture nucleation do not originate. 3. The energy, additionally removed by the spalling layer in the process of damage to the material and determined by measuring the macroparameters of flow behind the front of the shock waves, is correlated with the quantitative measure of crack nucleation found at the microlevel, and it may serve as its criterion. Residual strength can characterize the damage level of ductile materials only. 4. The threshold value of potential strain energy of steel is approximately 105 J/m2 in a wide range of rupture stresses and times of their action, and in comparative evaluation it is correlated with the value of KIc, and not with ultimate strength.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -
