These individuals were homozygous for sub-class deleted Gm-Am haplotypes, as shown by allotype studies in two families (Gm-;…;g;A2ml/Gm-;n;b;A2ml and Gm-;n;b;A2ml/Gm-;…;b;A2ml) and by a population study of New Guineans (Gm fa;-;b;A2m2). The individuals with IgGl sub-class deficiency showed elevation of IgG2, IgG4 and in particular of IgG3.Gene deletion can result from unequal crossing over which renders a complementary chromosome with a duplication of a sub-class gene. In one family, duplication of γ3 genes was observed to have happened in one of a twin pair. Quantitation of sub-classes in families with γ1- and with γ3-duplicated haplotypes did not show increased levels of the gene involved.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1432-1203Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: BiologyMedicineNotes: Summary A Samoyed-speaking group of fishers, hunters, and deer breeders numbering 1500 in total has been investigated. Seven territorial subgroups were examined with respect to 15 genetic systems. The presence of A2, cde, CwDe, Kpa, AK2, pc, Gmfb, and Gmfnb genes or haplotypes in low or moderate frequencies was observed. An unexpected finding was a deleted Gm(-;n;gb) phenotype in three siblings. Significant local genetic heterogeneity was observed with regard to AB0, Rh, Tf, PGM1, 6-PGD, and Gm systems. The summed genic heterogeneity was found to be highly significant (χ 132 2 =663.70, P〈 0.001). Mean Fst was equal to 0.0228, reflecting variation among subpopulations dispersed in the forest-tundra area and living under conditions of partial isolation.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1573-9139Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Production Engineering, Mining and Metallurgy, Traffic Engineering, Precision MechanicsNotes: Conclusions Using magnesite powders with large contents of magnesium oxide we obtained high-quality magnesite and periclase-spinel products. Periclase-spinel products obtained from the above powders satisfy the requirements of GOST for the PShSP type of product for the roofs of open-hearth furnaces and electric steel furnaces. Their thermal shock resistance is 7–15 water-heat cycles, compared with 5–7 heat cycles for ordinary periclase-spinel products, which is due to their structural features.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Comparatively good qualitative factors and enhanced wear resistance in service are possessed by roof products made by a combined periclase-spinel and magnesite-chromite technology, incorporating in the batch both granular chromite and chromite milled together with magnesite powder. The comparatively low loss and the excellent property factors are typical for steel casting nozzles made on the basis of magnesite powder obtained by burning magnesite in shaft furnaces. Mathematical statistical techniques were used to determine the distribution and mutual relationships between the property factors of some magnesite products. The marked mutual relationship between the quality factors indicates the possibility of using statistical methods for evaluating some properties of these products.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

It is shown that much less dust removal (4%) is ensured by firing the briquets obtained on the roller press. The aluminous cement obtained with this technology has a high graded strength.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Such plugs are suitable for degassing of steel with argon supplied through the ladle bottom. They can withstand 3–4 degassing cycles. Degassing of steel with argon through porous magnesite plugs fabricated by the Magnezit Plant permits a reduction in hydrogen content by 1.0–2.5 cm3 per 100 g of metal and a fourfold or fivefold reduction in the content of nonmetaliic oxide inclusions in ball-bearing and structural steels smelted in the usual manner.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Published 1970Staff ViewISSN: 1573-9139Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Production Engineering, Mining and Metallurgy, Traffic Engineering, Precision MechanicsNotes: Conclusions Savinsk magnesite (lump and briquetted from the concentrate) can be thoroughly fired in rotary kilns of different sizes at a flame temperature of 1700–1750°C. The porosity of the powder is proportional to the size of the charge of raw material. During the firing of lump magnesite of all grades and briquette from ground concentrate it is possible to obtain powder with a porosity of 5–7%. When magnesite is being fired in a rotary kiln with a preparatory grid and when the raw materials charged amount to 1.5–2.0 times greater than when firing is done without the grid, a moderate-porosity powder is obtained. Thus, the fitting of a preparatory grid may increase the output of the furnace, and improve the quality of the product. During the firing of Savinsk lump and briquetted magnesite in rotary kilns in semiindustrial and industrial conditions, there is no bear formation, ringing, or crust formation on the lining of the furnace.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -
