Cu. The inhibition percentages thus obtained amounted to 20-98 per cent. with acridine; 78-99 per cent. with nicotinic acid; 60-99 per cent. with strychnine; and 58-98 per cent. with chinine hydrochloride. Polarisation studies with chinine hydrochloride revealed a low anodic polarisation but a considerable catholic polarisation, proving the validity of the Tafel equation. The dissolution is of an electrochemical nature and can be prevented by connecting a low external voltage (cathodic protection). It would appear that, in the presence of chinine hydrochloride, the corrosion process is essentially under cathodic control.Notes: Die Verfasser untersuchten die Möglichkeit, die Korrosion einer Al-Cu-Legierung mit etwa 4% Cu in Salzsäure zu inhibieren. Dabei wurden mit Acridin 20 bis 98%, mit Nikotinisäure 78 bis 99%, mit Strychnin 60 bis 99% und mit Chininhydrochlorid 58 bis 98% Inhibierung erreicht. Polarisationsuntersuchungen mit Chininhydrochlorid ergaben geringe anodische, jedoch beträchtliche kathodische Polarisation, wobei sich die Tafelgleichung als gültig erwies. Die Auflösung ist elektrochemischer Natur und kann durch Anlegen einer geringen äußeren Spannung verhindert werden (kathodischer Schutz).
