ISSN: 1559-1816Source: Blackwell Publishing Journal Backfiles 1879-2005Topics: PsychologyNotes: In this paper, a hypothesis from a theory of charismatic relationships is examined that incorporates follower's level of self-monitoring and state of self-awareness. It is argued that changes in the state of self-awareness affect the characteristics of the short-term charismatic relationship between leader and follower, but only for high self-monitoring followers. Providing support for the hypothesis was a repeated-measures study. Participants (N= 78) viewed video vignettes of charismatic leaders presenting different messages, in either a high or low self-awareness condition. When high in self-awareness, participants with a high self-monitoring orientation were more likely than when in a state of low self-awareness to internalize only those messages congruent with their values and beliefs.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1420-908XSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: MedicineNotes: Abstract Previous reports have demonstrated suppressive effects of salmon calcitonin (SCT) on inflammation and immune reactions. A rat model of arthritis induced by immunization with type II collagen was studied in an attempt to demonstrate antirheumatic and immunosuppressive actions of SCT. No inhibition of arthritis or of specific immune responses to collagen was found.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1420-908XSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: MedicineNotes: Abstract The type II collagen induced arthritis model was used to evaluate the efficacy of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteases (TIMP) in suppressing the disease in DBA/1 mice. Treatment began following the first clinical manifestations of the disease state. Clinical observations, histological and radiographic findings show a decreased incidence of joint erosion in the treated population relative to the controls. It is concluded that systemic administration of recombinant human TIMP suppresses the pathology of type II collagen induced arthritis.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

The method depends on the pyrolysis of the material by use of an electrically heated filament, the difficulties of the method are examined and attempts to overcome them are described. The pyrolytic degradation of a resin based on the glycidyl ether of bisphenol-A hardened with 1,2-diaminoethane and also triethylenetetraamine, is described. An attempt has been made to explain, in terms of possible degradation reactions, the actual compounds detected in the pyrolytic breakdown.Additional Material: 9 Ill.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
