The low socioeconomic status children learned the original discrimination somewhat more slowly than did the middle class children. The middle class children learned the R shift significantly faster than the ED shift but the lower class children did not. However, the lower class children learned the extradimensional shift significantly faster than did the middle class children, whereas there was no difference between the two socioeconomic groups in speed of reversal learning.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1432-0592Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: Architecture, Civil Engineering, SurveyingGeographyEconomicsNotes: Abstract Intra-metropolitan comparisons were made in retailing labor productivity for a national sample of forty-nine SMSAs. Productivity levels were calculated for the CBD, the city excluding the CBD, and the suburban ring for 1958 and 1972. It was hypothesized that productivity would be lower in the CBD than in other areas of the city and metropolitan region due to inefficiencies in the CBD physical plant and the long term market decline for downtown retailing. The findings of this study did support this hypothesis, thereby suggesting the need for CBD firms to consider methods of increasing labor productivity in order to make the businesses more economically viable and more competitive with stores in suburban areas. While strategies on both the revenue and cost side can be used in attempts to increase CBD productivity, those on the cost side would appear to offer the greatest likelihood of an immediate response.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Since the C4B null allele is known to be part of the extended or ancestral haplotype [B44-SC30-Dr4], we investigated the incidence of [B44-Sc30-DR4] in 21 autistic children and their parents. This extended haplotype was increased by almost six-fold in the autistic subjects as compared with healthy controls. Moreover, the total number of extended haplotypes expressed on chromosomes of autistic subjects was significantly increased as compared with those expressed on chromosomes of healthy subjects. We conclude that a gene related to, or included in, the extended major histocompatibility complex may be associated with autism.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
