ISSN: 1420-9071Keywords: Branchial heart ; cephalopods ; cholinergic innervationSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: BiologyMedicineNotes: Summary The dense motor innervation of the obliquely striated muscle cells in the branchial heart of Coleoida is composed of activating and inhibiting parts. The inhibiting cholinergic system investigated in this study is characterized histo- and cytochemically by a high acetylcholinesterase activity (EC 3.1.1.7) in the glycocalices of the nerve fibers with transparent synaptic vesicles, the muscle cells and, to a lesser extent, the ovoid interstitial cells, the functions of which are endocytosis and storage of catabolic substances. The pharmacological results from the isolated organ indicate a more nicotinic type of Ach-receptor, which can be reversibly blocked by D-tubocurarine and α-bungarotoxin, but not with the same intensity by tetraethylammonium or atropine.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

For the Nb+Nb interactions, both,R T andR L , do not exceed the niobium nucleus radius. In the case of Au+Au collisions, the transverse size is larger than the longitudinal one being about 12 fm for the selection ofP π + 〈 120 MeV/c. We also corroborate the existence of the previously reported specific three-pion correlations.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Target and projectile spectators are observed for peripheral collisions but not for the most central collisions. This behavior is found for all systems and bombarding energies investigated. Although detector inefficiencies tend to distort the experimental distributions, they are on a tolerable level and do not remove sensitivity to theoretical descriptions.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

The data were taken with the Plastic Ball spectrometer. The pion-emitting source sizes obtained from specific three-pion correlations are significantly smaller than those extracted from two-pion correlations. The dependence of the source parameters on the multiplicity of produced pions was examined. The low-p t pions are emitted from a larger region than the high-p t ones.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
