Published 1990Staff ViewISSN: 1089-7690Source: AIP Digital ArchiveTopics: PhysicsChemistry and PharmacologyNotes: The permanent dipole moment of TiN in its X 2Σ+ and A 2Σ states has been determined from the complete resolution of the first- and second-order Stark splitting of the Q21(1.5)+R2(0.5) line of the (0,0) band of the A 2Π–X 2Σ+ system. Values of 3.56±0.05 D (2σ) and 4.63±0.04 D (2σ) have been derived for the X and A states respectively, from least-squares fits to plots of Stark splitting vs electric field strength. Electric fields up to 12 kV/cm have been employed avoiding voltage breakdown. The zero-field spectrum shows resolution of the nuclear magnetic hyperfine structure of the 47TiN and 49TiN isotopes. This hyperfine structure is that of the ground X 2Σ+ state only and is shown to follow closely the coupling case bβS. The value of the Fermi contact parameter is −570 MHz which implies a 4s occupation of the 9σ molecular orbital (MO) of 72%. The results are compared with calculated and available experimental values for early first-row transition metal oxides and nitrides.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

These measurements were performed for 14-MeV neutrons from a D-T neutron source (OKTAVIAN) by using neutron-imaging techniques. By defocusing an image due to a single fission event, each electron from the cathode was clearly distinguished, and the number of electrons could be counted. From the neutron images in the streak-mode operation, time dispersions due to the electron transit-time spread fell in the range of estimated values.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Many diagnostics are in use to evaluate the key parameters of target implosion in an extremely dense, short period region. In this paper, we describe the present status and future planning of these diagnostics, such as x-ray, radioactive, and reaction particle measurement, because of their importance for fuel ρR determination.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1460-9568Source: Blackwell Publishing Journal Backfiles 1879-2005Topics: MedicineNotes: We previously demonstrated that transgenic mice overexpressing Fyn tyrosine kinase exhibit higher seizure susceptibility and enhanced tyrosine phosphorylation of several proteins, including the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor subunit 2B (NR2B). In the present study, we analysed behavioural phenotypes, especially conditioned fear responses, of Fyn-transgenic (TG) mice to better understand the role of Fyn in learned emotional behaviour. Tone-dependent conditioned freezing was significantly attenuated in Fyn-TG mice, whereas context-dependent freezing was unaffected. Neither massed nor spaced conditioning ameliorated the attenuation of tone-dependent freezing. However, the selective NR2B antagonist ifenprodil, when administered before conditioning, restored tone-dependent freezing in Fyn-TG mice at a dose that did not affect freezing in wild-type (WT) mice. These results suggest that impairment of tone-dependent conditioned freezing in Fyn-TG mice is caused by disruption of the NR2B-containing NMDA receptor function. Tyrosine phosphorylation of brain proteins, including NR2B, was enhanced in Fyn-TG mice compared with that in WT mice. We also found that ifenprodil significantly suppressed the enhanced tyrosine phosphorylation. Thus, our data support the notion that NMDA receptor activity is tightly correlated with protein tyrosine phosphorylation, and Fyn might be one key molecule that controls tone-dependent conditioned freezing through the regulation of NMDA receptor function.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -
