(Autorenreferat)'Social science data collected in the United States, both historically and at present, have often not been placed in any public archive - even when the data collection was supported by government grants. The availability of the data for future use is, therefore, in jeopardy. Enforcing archiving norms may be the only way to increase data preservation and availability in the future.' Publication Date: 2020-04-17Description: The problem of declining membership in Germany’s churches has been apparent for almost half a century. However, few scientific studies have investigated the respective influences of demographic and church-specific phenomena, as well as the potential impact if present trends continue. To answer these questions, we use a cohort component model and project the membership of each German Catholic diocese and Protestant regional church until 2060. Thus, for the first time we present a projection of church members for each of the 27 Catholic (arch-) dioceses and the 20 Protestant regional churches, as well as for the entire Evangelical Church and the Roman Catholic Church in Germany. We collected data from dioceses, Protestant regional churches and the Federal Statistical Office. Under the assumptions made, the results suggest a continued decline in membership and that by 2060 the number of church members would be half the number of 2017. Protestant Church membership would have shrunk slightly more than Catholic Church membership. We can conclude that church-specific factors (baptisms, leaving, and joining the church) would have a stronger influence on declining numbers than demographic factors. Moreover, demographic change would have a greater impact on registered church membership than on the total population. The proportion of Christians in the population would sharply decrease. Although in 2017 54.4 percent of the population belonged to one of the two major churches, according to the projection model, only 31.1 percent would be church members in 2060. As our results are not predictions but projections using trend analysis, we show how changed conditions would affect the projected development in five scenarios. Keywords: Soziologie, Anthropologie ; Sozialwissenschaften, Soziologie ; Sociology & anthropology ; Social sciences, sociology, anthropology ; Religionssoziologie ; Bevölkerung ; Sociology of Religion ; Population Studies, Sociology of Population ; Kirche ; Religionszugehörigkeit ; Mitgliedschaft ; Kirchenaustritt ; katholische Kirche ; evangelische Kirche ; Bevölkerungsentwicklung ; Migration ; Religiosität ; Trend ; Bundesrepublik Deutschland ; church ; religious affiliation ; membership ; leaving the church ; Catholic Church (Roman) ; Protestant church ; population development ; migration ; religiousness ; trend ; Federal Republic of GermanyType: Zeitschriftenartikel, journal article -

In this article, the author examines how the communists tried to integrate and assimilate local particularities of India and Marx’s concepts to prove validity of his doctrine. Likewise, he analyze difficulties of Indian communism to adapt to political scene of his country pronounced by develop of parties that define themselves, above all, as protectors of certainly castes, become them in main rivals of communists. Finally, it emphasizes the challenge that symbolize and compelling to the communists to review their understanding of India and function of its parties. Keywords: Politikwissenschaft ; Political science ; India; caste; class; communism; marxism ; Allgemeines, spezielle Theorien und Schulen, Methoden, Entwicklung und Geschichte der Politikwissenschaft ; Basic Research, General Concepts and History of Political ScienceType: journal article, Zeitschriftenartikel -

(Autorenreferat)'In recent years, studies of historical populations have shifted from tracing large-scale processes to analyzing longitudinal micro data in the form of 'life histories'. This approach expands the scope of social history by integrating data on a range of life course events. The complexity of life-course analysis, however, has limited most researchers to working with one specific database. The authors discuss methodological problems raised by longitudinal historical data and the challenge of converting life histories into rectangular datasets compatible with statistical analysis systems. The logical next step is comparing life courses across local and national databases, and they propose a strategy for sharing historical longitudinal data based on an intermediate data structure (IDS) that can be adopted by all databases. They describe the benefits of the IDS approach and activities that will advance the goals of simplifying and promoting research with longitudinal historical data.' Publication Date: 2023-09-26Description: Many years ago, Emmanuel Todd came up with a classification of family types and argued that the historically prevalent family types in a society have important consequences for its economic, political, and social development. Here, we evaluate Todd's most important predictions empirically. Relying on a parsimonious model with exogenous covariates, we find mixed results. On the one hand, authoritarian family types are, in stark contrast to Todd's predictions, associated with increased levels of the rule of law and innovation. On the other hand, and in line with Todd's expectations, communitarian family types are linked to racism, low levels of the rule of law, and late industrialization. Countries in which endogamy is frequently practiced also display an expectedly high level of state fragility and weak civil society organizations. Keywords: Soziologie, Anthropologie ; Staatsformen und Regierungssysteme ; Sociology & anthropology ; Systems of governments & states ; Constitutional structure; economic development; family structures; family systems; family types; state formation; European Values Study (EVS) ; Familiensoziologie, Sexualsoziologie ; Staat, staatliche Organisationsformen ; Family Sociology, Sociology of Sexual Behavior ; Political System, Constitution, Government ; ökonomische Entwicklung ; Familie ; Familienform ; Familiensituation ; Ideologie ; Staatenbildung ; economic development (single enterprise) ; family ; family structure ; family situation ; ideology ; state formation ; 10500 ; 10200Type: Zeitschriftenartikel, journal article -
