In this article we address the challenges of using qualitative methods in the context of radicalization research in light of a recent seizure of research data. We trace the lines of development and the securitization of the research field. While researchers often find themselves torn between basic research and application, the tendency toward securitization is evident in the subfield of (de)radicalization research, as if under a magnifying glass; thus confronting researchers with special tasks, e.g., the lack of the right to refuse to testify. We address specific ethical and legal aspects and offer a guide to legal questions that researchers should work through before going into the field. Keywords: Sozialwissenschaften, Soziologie ; Social sciences, sociology, anthropology ; Feldzugang; Kriminologie; Radikalisierungsforschung; Schweigepflicht; Sicherheitsbehörden; Vertraulichkeit; Versicherheitlichung; confidentiality; criminology; field access; qualitative Interviewforschung; qualitative interview research; radicalization research; reflexive Forschung; reflexive research; securitization; security agencies ; Forschungsarten der Sozialforschung ; Research DesignType: Zeitschriftenartikel, journal article -

Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Typical diagnostic criteria like signal intensity, location, and morphology of the lesions are presented. MRI proves to be a highly sensitive method to detect encephalitic foci, which, however, suffers from a low specificity. Therefore additional informations like case history, clinical findings, and serological data have to be considered to find the correct diagnosis.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1432-0649Keywords: 42.55.Rz ; 42.60By ; 42.60DaSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: PhysicsNotes: Abstract We report on a diode-laser-pumped cw Nd: YAG laser operating at a power level of 150 W. By using a transverse pump geometry, the radiation of 54 diode lasers with an output power of 10 W each is coupled into a Nd:YAG rod. In multimode operation, an optical slope efficiency of 32% and an optical to optical efficiency of 29% are obtained. In TEM00 operation, an output power of more than 30 W is realized with an optical to optical efficiency of 10%.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Published 1996Staff ViewISSN: 1432-1203Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: BiologyMedicineNotes: Abstract The geographic distribution and origin of CFTR mutations in Germany was evaluated in 658 three-generation families with cystic fibrosis (CF). Fifty different mutations were detected on 1305 parental CF chromosomes from 22 European countries and overseas. The major mutation ΔF508 was identified on 71.5% of all CF chromosomes, followed by R553X (1.8%), N1303K (1.3%), G542X (1.1%), G551D (0.8%) and R347P (0.8%). According to the grandparents’ birthplace, 74% of CF chromosomes had their origin in Germany; the ΔF508 percentage was 77%, 75%, 70% and 62% in northern, southern, western and eastern Germany, respectively. Ten or more mutant alleles in the investigated CF gene pool originated from Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Russia, Turkey and the Ukraine. This widespread geographic origin of CFTR mutations in today’s Germany reflects the many demographic changes and migrations in Central Europe during the 20th century.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -
