    Abstract: The structure of single-particle levels in the second minima of 237,239,241Pu was analyzed with the help of an axially-deformed Woods-Saxon potential. The nuclear shape was parametrized in terms of the cassinian ovaloids. A parametrization of the spin-orbit part of the potential was obtained in the region corresponding to large deformations (second minimum), depending only on the nuclear surface area. With this parametrization, we were able to reproduce successfully the spin, parity and energies of the rotational band built on the 8 μ s isomeric state in 239Pu and, also, a spin assignment for both isomeric states in 237Pu and 241Pu was carried out.

    Abstract Many algebraic structures can be characterized in terms of some order structure. Among them are lattices, semilattices, boolean algebras, and semi-boolean algebras. In this paper we show that a pBCK-algebra can be characterized in terms of two order relations, one of which also makes it an implicative BCK-algebra. One of these orders is the well-known order for the larger class of BCK-algebras; the other one is a new order we introduce here.

    Summary We have studied vitamin B6 status in 26 uremic patients, 18 on maintenance hemodialysis and 8 nonhemodialyzed. The vitamin B6 status was estimated by an assay of erythrocyte aspartate aminotransferase and coenzyme stimulation. Hemodialyzed uremic patients were found to have vitamin B6 deficiency. Patients were treated with 150 mg pyridoxine hydrochloride daily for 4 weeks. Erythrocyte aspartate aminotransferase increased significantly in both groups of uremic patients, the increase being greater in hemodialyzed patients. In vitro pyridoxal phosphate stimulation produces an erythrocyte aspartate aminotransferase activity greater than that obtained before pyridoxine hydrochloride administration. After cessation of pyridoxine hydrochloride treatment, erythrocyte aspartate aminotransferase decreases in hemodialyzed patients, while it remains elevated in nonhemodialyzed patients. The data obtained appear to indicate that vitamin B6 administration to patients with chronic renal insufficiency must be appraised not only for correcting the deficit but also for increasing the intracellular pyridoxal phosphate concentration, which could modify the possible functional impairment at the level of apoenzymes that use pyridoxal phosphate.

    Summary Twelve patients with carpal tunnel syndrome were studied. Clinical and electrophysiological data were obtained and an estimation of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) status by an assay of erythrocyte aspartate aminotransferase and coenzyme stimulation assay were done. None of the patients was found to have vitamin B6 deficiency. Patients were treated with 150 mg of pyridoxine daily for 3 months. Erythrocyte aspartate aminotransferase increased significantly (p〈0.001) in all the patients. In 6 patients there were clinical and electrophysiological improvement and erythrocyte aspartate aminotransferase increased more than in the other 6 patients. The data obtained appear to indicate that although vitamin B6 deficiency is not common in carpal tunnel syndrome patients, pyridoxine supplementation can be recommended as adjuvant treatment in those patients undergoing surgery.

    Abstract The behaviour of the elements Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta and Pa has been investigated on macroporous anion exchange resin BIORAD AGMP 1 in HF medium (from 0.02 to 2M). All the studied elements show strong adsorption properties at low HF concentration. The adsorption was found to be highly dependent on H+ and F− concentrations. The distribution of possible adsorbable complexes is discussed.
