Lasing was observed at 478.7, 484.7, 490.7, and 496.5 nm. Electrical measurements of the discharge characteristics permitted the energy flow in the circuit to be followed and laser efficiencies to be calculated. Parametric studies of gas mixtures were carried out. By optimizing several parameters, single-pulse lasing energies greater than 50 mJ were obtained.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Published 1990Staff ViewISSN: 1089-7550Source: AIP Digital ArchiveTopics: PhysicsNotes: The temperature dependence of the resistance in the Pt(60 nm)/Ti(50 nm) nonalloyed ohmic contacts to p-InAs (Zn doped 1×1018 to 1×1019 cm−3 ) induced by rapid thermal processing in the temperature range of 300–600 °C was studied. The ohmic nature of these contacts was attributed to both the low metal-semiconductor interfacial barriers and to the heavily doped semiconductor contacting layers. A phenomenological model was used to fit the measured temperature dependence contact resistance. The results indicated conversion from thermionic emission as the dominant carriers transport mechanism across the interfacial barrier for the as-deposited sample to a combination of thermionic and field emission mechanism for the heat-treated samples.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

A simultaneous analysis of this data with the ν2 band spectra reported by Sears, et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 83, 2676 (1985)] yielded a refined set of parameters for both the ground and the excited states of both bands. The indirect-drive inertial confinement fusion (ICF) method utilizes the soft x-ray field in a radiation-containing cavity, or hohlraum, to help achieve a high degree of symmetry. Achievement of the conditions necessary for ignition and gain will require experimental fine tuning of the drive symmetry. In order to make tuning possible, a significant effort has been devoted to developing symmetry measurement techniques. These techniques have been applied to a series of experiments that give a graphic picture of the symmetry conditions in the complex hohlraum environment. These experiments have been compared with detailed, fully integrated theoretical modeling. The ultimate goal of this work is the detailed understanding of symmetry conditions and the methods for their control.
