An XPS study gave evidence for an electronic valence state Au1+. Its replacement in the Cu(1) site appears questionable due to the large difference in ionic radii (Cu2+∶0.073 nm; Au1+∶0.137 nm). The so called ‘irreversibility lines’ determined by AC susceptibility measurements are strongly affected by the doping. Up to the limit of solubility in the grains, an improvement in intra and intergrain coupling and flux pinning energy is observed, showing the beneficial interest of YBCO-Au composites.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Published 1991Staff ViewISSN: 1089-7550Source: AIP Digital ArchiveTopics: PhysicsNotes: The properties of heterostructures containing an InGaAs/InP heterointerface generated by organometallic chemical vapor deposition regrowth have been investigated. Regrowth of InGaAs on InP was carried out after different sample preparations including wet chemical etching and in situ treatment prior to the regrowth. The electrical properties of the heterointerface were studied by performing deep-level transient spectroscopy measurements. An electron trap was observed in the interface region of the samples either in situ etched with HCl gas or annealed under PH3 overpressure. Temporal pulse response measurements were employed to study the effects of this electron trap on the optical performance of p-i-n photodetectors containing this regrown heterointerface.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

The two-terminal device operates in several modes: As an amplifier with a large signal, external optical gain of 5, as in optical logic gate, and as an optically or electrically triggerable latch. The optical AND gate has an output on-to-off ratio of 10:1. Although the device has no optical feedback, latching is achieved with appropriate biasing through impact ionization.
