    A scheme for systematic reduction of the theoretical treatment of elementary reactions involving polyatomic molecules is described; it consists of (1) limitation to the energetically relevant regions of the nuclear configuration space (the reaction path and its near environs) and (2) restriction to the dynamically relevant subspace of the nuclear configuration space (the active modes). Starting from a generalized reaction path Hamiltonian of Nauts and Chapuisat allowing for the use of arbitrary curvilinear coordinates and several large-amplitude modes, the realization of the above-sketched scheme is discussed. A compilation of recent work along these lines, mostly based on the simplified Miller-Handy-Adams reaction path Hamiltonian, is given with particular emphasis on applications of a statistical adiabatic model.

    Abstract This paper presents a reference point approximation algorithm which can be used for the interactive solution of bicriterial nonlinear optimization problems with inequality and equality constraints. The advantage of this method is that the decision maker may choose arbitrary reference points in the criteria space. Moreover, a special tunneling technique is given for the computation of global solutions of certain subproblems. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a mathematical example and a problem in mechanical engineering.

    Mit steigender Wertigkeit des Titans und mit zunehmender Elektronegativität der umgebenden Atome vergrößert sich die Wellenlänge der TiKα1-Linie; den TiO2-Modifikationen und den untersuchten Titanaten(IV) erreicht die Verschiebung einen durchschnittlichen Wert von + 0,62 X bzw. -1,02eV. Bei den Ti Kα2-Linien nimmt die Wellenlänge in den vierwertigen Verbindungen im Mittel nur um + 0,37 X (-0,61 eV) zu und zeigt keine so deutliche Abhängigkeit von der Wertigkeit. Die Abnahme der Kα1-Linienbreite und -asymmetrie verläft gleichsinnig mit der Anzahl ungepaarter Elektronen bzw. dem magnetischen Moment der Verbindungen. Die röntgenspektroskopischen Messungen ergaben, daß im LaTiO3, dreiwertiges und im EuTiO3 vierwertiges Titan vorliegen muß.
