Résumé Pour la première fois en Inde, on décrit 2 foyers de “pneumonie à cellules géantes” chez des bufflons, accompagnée de difflculté respiratoire et d'entérite catarrhale légère. Sur la base des examens histo-pathologiques, on peut penser que le Paramyxovirus Influenzae III joue un rôle dans cette maladie.

Sumario Se describen dos brotes de neumonîa a células gigantes en terneros de búfalos, acompañados por malestar respiratorio y ligero catarro intestinal, por primera vez en India. La posibilidad de un virus PI3 en la etiologîa de la enfermedad es sugerida teniendo como base hallazgos histopatológicos caracterîsticos.

Summary Two outbreaks of ‘giant cell pneumonia’ in buffalo calves, accompanied by respiratory distress and mild catarrh of the intestines, recorded for the first time in India, are described. The possibility of PI3 virus, playing a role in the causation of the disease, is suggested on the basis of characteristic histopathological findings.
