Conclusions 1. The new design of the elastic steel-plastics segment for the step bearing enabled limitations to be removed on stops and operating regimes of hydrogenerator No. 9; to raise the operating flexibility of the hydropower unit by making it possible to start it with coldor hot oil; and also, after brief (less than 5 min) stops, to increase the reliability and durability of the step bearing. 2. The new design of the elastic steel-plastics segment can be recommended for increasing the dependability of step bearings which do not now have the required reliability and durability.
