Of the 56 cases of Cow-den's disease which have been reported so far, esophageal and gastrointestinal involvement have been observed in only 18 patients. Endoscopic, radiologic, and histopathologic features of these lesions were confirmed in the present patients.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

The positions of the reflections in reciprocal space suggest a fourfold unit cell referring to the cubic perovskite structure. The onset temperatures for charge ordering are 150 K and 180 K for x=0.125 and x=0.15, respectively. Especially in the sample with the lower Sr concentration, the onset is correlated to a jump in resistivity measured on the same sample.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1432-1939Source: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: BiologyNotes: Summary Food preferences and feeding behaviour of abundant species of oribatid mites in a black pine plantation have been studied by soil sectioning technique. It is suggested that Microtritia minima, Rhysotritia duplicata and Phthiracarus sp. play an important role in the mechanical breakdown of decaying litter and, by contributing to the humification process, help in the accumulation of plant nutrients. Due to poor mobility their contribution to fungal spore dissemination is insignificant. Chamobates incisus was determined to be a fungivorous species while no exact information could be obtained about the precise food of Tectocepheus velatus. Rest of the species seemed to consume large quantities of decaying litter but in view of their low populations throughout, presumably they do not contribute appreciably in the humification process. The speed of decomposition of faecal pellets seemed to be governed by the type of food ingested. The role of oribatid fauna in the litter and soil ecosystems is discussed.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Attempts to explain these differences by climatic or interaction of climatic variables (in the range explored) are unsuccessful. Further analyses are thus needed to understand the reasons, climatic or other, responsible for the different behaviour ofAzolla under the two studied ecologies.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

The critical temperatures for the ordering process are 150 K and 180 K in samples with Sr concentrations of and , respectively. For x =0.125 the charge order transition correlates with a drastic resistivity enhancement, while a much smaller change of the resistivity is found for x = 0.15. It is argued that the onset of charge ordering in the sample with x = 0.125 is related to the suppression of co-operative Jahn-Teller distortions which is initiated by rising ferromagnetism.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
