This tumor typically presents as a well-defined mass in the superficial tissues of the extremities. In this report, we present the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) appearances of a pathologically proven chondroid lipoma. To our knowledge, this is the first report of any imaging findings associated with this tumor.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Radiation-induced osteosarcomas generally occur 3–30 years after exposure and are most common after radiotherapy for cervical or breast carcinoma. These tumors are usually rapidly growing, extremely painful, and histologically high grade. In this paper, we report two cases of high-grade post-radiation osteosarcoma of the scapula. Despite being almost identical radiologically and pathologically, one case had a typical clinical presentation whereas the second case had two unusual features, being non-painful and arising in a field initially irradiated for bronchogenic carcinoma.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

ISSN: 1432-1440Keywords: Allantoin ; renal excretion ; benzbromarone ; hyperuricemia ; renale Ausscheidung ; Benzbromaron ; HyperurikämieSource: Springer Online Journal Archives 1860-2000Topics: MedicineDescription / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Tägliche orale Verabreichung von 100 mg bzw. Notes: Summary Oral administration of benzbromarone at daily doses of 100 mg or 300 mg over a period of 3 or 6 days does not produce a significant change of the excretion rates of allantoin in the 24-h-urines of humans in a normouricemic or hyperuricemic state. Therefore, the theoretically improbable assumption that benzbromarone may induce an increased elimination of uric acid by an enteral pathway cannot be accepted any longer. Failing additional direct effects upon purine metabolic pathways (Sorensen and Levinson, 1976) benzbromarone exerts its hypouricemic action solely by uricosuric properties.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

To our knowledge, telangiectatic osteosarcoma occurring as a second tumor in this setting, outside the radiation treatment field, has not been previously reported. The association of the RB-1 gene defect with retinoblastomas and other tumors is discussed. Also, the computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings in telangiectatic osteosarcoma are described and discussed.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

Intraneural origin of synovial sarcoma is very unusual, and the MR imaging appearance of this condition has not been previously reported. MR imaging was valuable, as it showed the intraneural location and extent of the tumor, but it did not allow a specific histologic diagnosis.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

This report describes the clinical and MR imaging findings in two cases arising in the pretibial soft tissues. Both tumors demonstrated marked inhomogeneity with T2-weighted spin echo and STIR sequences. One of the tumors revealed numerous fluid levels within the lesion. A review of the MRI features of these tumors is provided. Osteosarcoma with telangiectatic features should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a soft tissue mass with fluid-fluid levels in patients 40 years of age or older.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

To assess a three-dimensional computed tomography (3DCT) technique for measurement of acetabular coverage in adults. Design. We used 3DCT to define the geometric centre of the femoral head and to measure centre-edge angles (CEAs) at 10° rotational increments around the acetabular rim. The means, ranges, standard deviations and 95% confidence intervals for the CEAs at the various rotational increments were determined. Inter- and intra-observer variability was measured. The normal values are compared with two example cases of acetabular dysplasia. Patients. The normal hips of 15 subjects aged 19–49 years (mean 34.2 years) were measured. Results. The 3DCT measurements are reproducible (mean difference inter-observer, 1.7°–7.9°; mean difference intra-observer, 0.6°–6.9°). Mean normal CEA at the lateral rim was 33° with a 95% confidence interval of 23°–43°. Mean normal CEAs at 10° rotational increments from anterior to posterior rim were determined, and graphed as a ’normal curve’. Conclusion. This new 3DCT method of assessing acetabular dysplasia is simple, reproducible, and applicable to diagnosis, quantification and surgical planning for adult acetabular dysplasia patients.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL: -

This ability is related to a highly discriminatory protein-synthesizing system which exhibits marked ability to avoid processing an array of nonprotein amino acids structurally related to arginine.Type of Medium: Electronic ResourceURL:
